Sri Lanka has been recognized as the World’s Top Trending Wellness Travel Destination for 2026, according to the State of Retreats 2026 Report by BookRetreats.com. The country recorded a remarkable 100% year-on-year increase in traveler interest, securing the top position among the world’s fastest-growing wellness destinations.

The report highlights Sri Lanka’s rich 2,000-year-old Ayurvedic heritage, doctor-led wellness treatments, yoga retreats, and holistic healing experiences as key factors driving its popularity. Combined with competitive retreat pricing, diverse natural attractions, and year-round travel opportunities, the island continues to attract wellness-focused travelers from around the world.

Sri Lanka’s tourism-friendly initiatives have further strengthened its global appeal. The Government’s decision to waive visa fees for tourists from 40 countries has made the destination more accessible, supporting the country’s strategy to attract high-value international visitors.
