Sri Lanka has been honoured with the prestigious “Luxury Food Destination of the Year” award at the Travel & Taste Awards 2026 in the United Kingdom.
The award was presented by Ms. Alex Crosley, Chief Organiser of the Travel & Taste Awards, at the Sri Lanka Tourism promotion stand during the World Travel Market exhibition.
The Travel & Taste Awards recognise the world’s finest food-centric travel experiences across 17 categories. Winners are selected by a panel of industry experts, including spirits specialist Millie Milliken-Holdsham, food travel content creator Verna Gao, and hospitality connoisseurs Gina Jackson and Millie Kenny-Ryder.
The judging panel highlighted several factors contributing to Sri Lanka’s recognition, including boutique hotel groups redefining luxury on the island, its vibrant culinary scene, and the presentation of indigenous natural produce.
According to Sri Lanka Tourism, this recognition strengthens the country’s position as an emerging luxury food and travel destination, highlighting its culinary diversity and high-quality dining experiences while supporting efforts to attract experience-driven tourists.
